an inspiration painting

Children are waiting

This painting has very kindly been gifted to C K Purandare by Lucia, an Argentinian artist who was in Bolivia at that time. This is what she has to say about it -

Lucia's statement -

-first off, this painting is dedicated to my friend - Chandrashekhar - and it was inspired by his work.

it's a dyptich, size about 30 x 20 cm or so, acrylics, and another brush was killed during the process.

i think here i explain my thoughts about the painting and theme:

"i made it after a picture i took on Arque, a small town near where i live. people there may look poor to us, but they're not, it's the way they live. they don't need more than they have and that's ok. the day i went there there was some religious festivity, so there was a lot of people visiting the town.
these kids live there, they were waiting to lunch because their mother was too busy giving the food to the visitors. the guy playing guitar was waiting too.

what i feel when i see this image is that children are waiting while we do anything but caring for them. young people specially, they are too concentrated on their own business -usually, having fun- and they forget children. they are always forgotten, and when they grow old, they will forget about children too..."

besides all this, i really really enjoyed making this painting, though the faces were kinda difficult, i felt specially connected to the brushes and acrylics this time.
