boat people
Oil on Box Canvas 610 mm X 760 mm Unframed, Ready to Hang
This is about the so-called Boat People - illegal migrants from Africa to
Europe - mainly Italy and Burmese/Bangladeshis to Thailand, Malaysia,
Indonesia. The number runs into hundreds of thousands.
Many die in the journey as boats are not sea-worthy, over-crowded.
People leave their home-countries because of poverty, absence of government giving rise to persecution, lawlessness or religious discrimination. They are not welcome as immigrants.
